Krishna Is Working Behind the Scenes
During one of my book distribution services, I was standing with Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books, trying to approach people, but somehow nothing was working that day. No one seemed interested, and I was unable to distribute even a single book. After some time, I became quite discouraged and started thinking, “What am I doing here? Perhaps this is just a useless endeavour.” Just at that moment, a young boy came towards me and asked, “What are these books?” He looked at the books and then said something that really touched me: “You are doing such nice work. People are in need of this literature.” He then happily took one of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books and also gave a donation for the service. That moment personally changed my consciousness. When I was internally feeling that my service was not producing any result, Kṛṣṇa sent someone who appreciated the very service that I had begun to doubt. I felt that Kṛṣṇa and Śrīla Prabhupāda were reminding me that I am not the doer and that I simply have to sincerely carry out the service entrusted to me. This experience reminded me of the transcendental and unstoppable mission of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Sometimes we may not see any result, but that does not mean the endeavour is useless. We simply have to continue serving with faith and sincerity, knowing that Kṛṣṇa can make arrangements far beyond what we can see.
