A Bhagavad-gītā Worth More Than Everything
“One night, while distributing Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books near Marine Drive, I saw a beggar sitting nearby. Looking at his situation, a thought came to my mind: ‘Would he even be interested in buying a Bhagavad-gītā?’ So I hesitated and did not approach him. After some time, something unexpected happened — he himself came towards me and asked for a Bhagavad-gītā. I explained to him that the book was being given in exchange for a contribution. Without hesitation, he took out all the coins he had collected through begging and offered them. The total amount was ₹200. At that moment, I realized that the value of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books is not measured by a person’s external circumstances. A person may appear to have very little materially, but their desire to receive Krishna’s message can be priceless. This experience taught me never to judge who may or may not be ready to receive Krishna’s mercy. Every person has the potential to connect with the Bhagavad-gītā. We simply have to go out and distribute — because we never know whose heart is waiting for this divine knowledge.”
